Martin Brandlmayr - drums, computer
John Norman - bass
Martin Siewert - guitars, lapsteel, electronics

Since 1996, Radian have reconstructed rock, jazz and electronic music into taut, controlled, binary compositions. They work with fragmented sounds; clicks/cuts/scrapes, throbbing bursts of bass, crunching distorted drums and pulsing tones, falling somewhere between minimalist noise rock, metallic IDM, post-rock, glitch, ambient, breakbeat and free-improv!
We welcome them for the first UK show of the tour, supporting their latest release; 'On Dark Silent Off' on Thrill Jockey.

Fans of Pan Sonic, My Disco, Tortoise, Moin and the new Raime LP, This Heat, Tomaga and Aphex Twin's Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments record... apply within.

"Radian is a machine, their music the sum of body hydraulics and fuzzy logic." - The Wire

"impressively original density and texture" - The New York Times

"They combine the traditional instrumentation of rock music with extremely minimalist, abstract structures. A short noise appears in the open space, rhythmic fragments are articulated with care, elements of noise are layered on top of each other to suddenly form a complex of individual beauty."

"Radian creates a field of tension between extreme dynamics, freely improvised parts and meticulous construction, an inherent contrast between soft sounds and sharp edits.
The juxtaposition of extremes (on/off) is present in Radian’s work: the contrast between light and darkness; and in musical terms, sound and silence and brightness/darkness of timbre."

Tomaga
[Hands In The Dark RecordsBlank Editions]

A third visit in 12 months from our favourite UK duo. Simpy one of the best live bands in the country right now, bar none.
Tomaga are Tom Relleen (bass guitar, xylophone, loops, synth Bossman) and Valentina Magaletti (percussionist par excellence). They also perform in The Oscillation. Valentina has also recorded and performed with the likes of Raime, Helm, Shit & Shine, Hey Colossus, Vanishing Twin etc.

They have a new album out on Sept. 19th, titled 'The Shape of Dance'.

Together they conjure a heady brew of "industrial, jazz, psychedelia and minimalism, on it’s way to somewhere wholly other. Devoted to musical exploration, this London based duo obsessively deconstruct familiar tropes, looking for the tension that lies between improvisation and form."

[Noctone]

IFQ play entirely improvised music with deep rooted grooves and textured walls of sound, blending influences such as post-punk, the New York no wave scene, 70's Miles, avant garde sonics and the spirtual jazz movement into their own intense and uncompromising sound.
