Plunge deep into a special night of lucid dreams, prismatic beams and sonic Oculus Rift, headed up by two sculptors of ingenious 3-D musical shapes, each of whom have beaten artistic paths that elude contemporary musical gridlines.

Cruising in from LA comes Sun Araw, who step it up with a mind-melting new A/V show that finds them in joyously wild and explorative trio format with verdant visual accompaniment from AUJIK, while London's Helm (PAN, Alter) fashions striking electro-acoustic vistas from a cornucopia of sound sources.

Once we're done journeying in the auditorium it's straight to the bar for a Friday night dust-up, Duppy Gun style: Sun Araw's outer-orbit dub/dancehall imprint takes control with guest selections from local chamber-dweller Ossia (Young Echo/Blackest Ever Black).

Over an evolving canon of full-length albums, astrally-aligned collaborations and some arresting visual work, Cameron Stallones aka Sun Araw has evolved as a singular purveyor of expansive, contemporary psychotropic music that can encompass tweaked-out dub, free-wheeling improvisation and deep-focussed stumble-funk.

In recent times Stallones has played the stereo field with the gleaming refracted glory of last year’s BELOMANCIE LP, which followed ICON GIVE THANK, an incredible collaborative album between Cameron,M. Geddes Gengras and roots reggae vocal legends The Congos via the RVNG label as part of their FRKWYS series. 2014 also saw a serendipitous glide round Europe in tandem with ambient pioneer Laraaji entitled The Play Zone.

Now, the latest configuration of Sun Araw Band (aka S. Araw “Trio” XI) brings us GAZEBO EFFECT, a double album set out in June that informs the game-changing A/V live show set to tour Europe in Autumn . Over the course of several studio dates in Hollywood, California, “Trio” players Cameron Stallones, Alex Gray, and Mitchell Brown (with no prior intentions of doing any such thing) successfully planted a garden of “non-dimensional” objects, not only spontaneously generating these objects but also mastering their nurture and cultivation.” GAZEBO EFFECT is a 2xLP nocturnal stroll into the depths of the garden, its upper lawns and outbuildings. The garden has been stunningly visualised for the live by Kyoto-based visual art entity AUJIK, with the touring band comprising Stallones, Gray and percussionist Jon Leland.

Helm is Luke Younger, a sound artist and experimental musician based in London, working with a vast array of revolving instrumentation and abstract sound sources. Younger’s compositions build dense aural landscapes that incorporate elements of musique concrete and industrial music
alongside hallucinatory drones and various acousmatic phenomena. Instruments morph into spectral rust, a shimmering klang swims alongside passive noise and the relationship between acoustic and electronic derived sounds forms a solid foundation.
To date, he has produced four full length albums; the self-released debut To An End, in 2010, Cryptography on Graham Lambkin’s (The Shadow Ring) KYE label in 2011 and 2012′s Impossible Symmetry beginning an ongoing collaboration with Bill Kouligas' PAN label. New LP Olympic Mess finds a new brightness pervading, the contours of Youngers' sound ever more clearly definied and inviting.

Duppy Gun Productions is a heavy-hitting futuristic roots/dancehall alliance pairing Cameron Stallones (Sun Araw), M.Geddes Gengras and a host of adventurous US producers such as Aaron Coyes (Peaking Lights), Alex Gray (D/P/I), Matthewdavid and Butchy Fuego with a dynamite pack of raw vocalists from Jamaica. Duppy Gun DJs (tonight featuring Cameron and Alex) represent the fire stoked by these scorching collaborations at the turntables, with Ossia joining the party as his debut release on Blackest Ever Black hits the racks.
