The seven year-long wait between James Holden's genre-defying 2006 debut The Idiots Are Winning proved well worth it. His earthy, expansive and wistful second album The Inheritors saw the Border Community boss and hugely in-demand producer drift meditatively between the folk, post-rock, ambient electronica, and kraut rock influences that regularly feature in his DJ sets, while taking a transformative trip through England's pagan mythology. Exploring the relationship between acoustic and electronic sounds, its smudged, soft-focus fizzling harbours a sense of rawness amidst its spiritual sprawl.
Holden's live interpretation of his sound has been gathering momentum ever since, and he will perform his intricate modular show alongside a full live band at Colston Hall's The Lantern.
