ZU are back!
Their experimental amalgam of metal, jazz, math, no-wave, noise and electronics, led acclaimed composer John Zorn to describe their sound as "a powerful and expressive music that totally blows away what most bands do these days".
They've just released THREE follow-ups to the 2009's seminal 'Carboniferus' album in the last 12 months.
Showcasing their huge range, 'The Left Hand Path' (2014) features Eugene Robinson of Oxbow on vocals in an “ambient drone/moon magick/voodoo blues” outing.
The 'Goodnight, Civilization EP' (2014) however, displays ZU back at their most ferocious, featuring Gabe Serbian (The Locust) on drums, plus a cover of The Residents' 'Easter Woman' with guest vocals from Barney Greenway (Napalm Death)
'Cortar Todo' (2015) is their 15th release in as many years, the band firmly at their best, revealing “new dynamics, the album is more direct, sharp, focussed, and more intense and musical than anything we have heard from Zu so far.”
ZU have in various forms worked with varied names such as;
Mike Patton, Fantomas, the Melvins, the Ex, Steve Albini, Dälek, Thurston Moore, Jim O'Rourke, Alvin Curran, Damo Suzuki, Mats Gustafsson, Balazs Pandi, Peter Brotzmann, Stephen O'Malley, Steve MacKay (The Stooges) etc.
“One of the most progressive no-wave metal bands ever” Pitchfork

"Raw, visceral psych-dub killers by a wicked new duo featuring Valentina Magaletti, who previously drummed with $hit and $hine and on Raime's 'Quarter Turns Over A Living Line' LP. The LP weaves and frays the lines between Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza's jazzy avant-garde incursions, the possessed communal percussions of Cannibal Movie, and the wavey, dubbed-out post-punk of Gray or Not Waving." - Boomkat

Futuro de Hierro
(Barcelona, Spain)
Electronic rhythmic noise project by multi-instrumentist and producer Víctor Hurtado, (Ordre Etern, Qa'a, Huan), collaborator of artists such as Jochen Arbeit (Einstürzende Neubauten) and Nurse With Wound, among others.
Destroyed sounds and sonic detritus with political and magick themes. His live performances are high octane and visceral sonic assaults of disjointed rhythms, noise and vocals.
